PERSONALITY:
A chief quality of Bridget's personality in the games is how damn nice he is to other people. In a game where the majority of the cast is rude, stoic, standoffish, or otherwise reticent in some ways, Bridget's outgoing kindness stands out. In addition to that, he's also very understanding, having the empathy needed to reach out and help the people he meets along his way, even some of the people on his bounty list in the first game. This compassion leads him to be well liked by some characters, but largely dismissed by others as it makes him very much a non-threat.

That compassion leads Bridget to a lot of friendships, even with some gruff and cold types like Venom. Bridget readily befriends May, Dizzy, Potemkin, Ky, Chipp, Jam, and others along his journey, even after beating them up in a lot of cases (or vice versa). Bridget finds making friends to come naturally to him, and makes it a priority to do so with most people he meets. It's pretty easy when you're that nice of a kid, too.

Unfortunately, that attitude has some drawbacks. Bridget's innocence and compassion leads him to be incredibly gullible and naive. I-No doesn't even have to try to convince him the fake bounty list was legitimate, he just trusted her because she was nice to him. Jam, good intentions aside, manipulates Bridget into working for her and putting on embarrassing outfits with little effort because of the trust he places in her. Taking advantage of him is just as easy as befriending him, and he usually won't even hold it against the other person, assuming it was nothing terribly severe.

Aside from all of that, what stands out to some people is Bridget's determination. In game, Bridget makes it a goal to find an identity for himself and prove his own masculinity. This starts out with bounty hunting, which in spite of following a fake bounty list, he excelled at due to a plucky, go get'em attitude. His second goal is to break into the entertainment business, which he also manages to find success in due to never taking no for an answer. Nothing seems to pull Bridget away from a set goal, a trait a lot of characters in canon admire... or hate, depending on which end of the situation they're on.

In spite of being raised as a girl and still having a love for cross-dressing and looking and being cute, Bridget is very open and honest about his gender. He always politely corrects people who misgender him, and never has issue explaining the situation. This is not to say he is 100% comfortable, of course, as many of his early goals are about becoming more masculine. Beside that, however, he seems to be confident in who he is. So what if a guy likes wearing cute dresses? Why is that weird? That's his outlook, anyways.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Bridget has the ability to manipulate kinetic vectors via touch. His mutation has been active since birth, and has evolved in a relatively short amount of time to move beyond just stopping objects in place. Among Bridget's applications of his powers are:
  • The ability to literally walk on any surface regardless of gravity

  • The reduction of his own personal friction, allowing him to move across surfaces with incredibly speed

  • The ability to command appropriate materials to expand or condense.

  • The ability to add velocity to a frozen object before releasing it from its hold, vastly increasing its energy.
Bridget uses most of these powers with his trusted yoyo. And it's not just any ordinary yoyo, either. Designed by his father, it's actually a highly effective and versatile weapon, having several functions that can be activated with Bridget's powers. Probably the most common of these are its bladed wheel function. Bridget also has a seemingly innocent stuffed bear that is in fact a defensive robot Bridget's father created for him that has several weapons and functions built into it. Roger, as the bear as called, can activate on Bridget's command.

AU HISTORY:
Bridget Halford was born to the prestigious noble lineage of the Halford family, centralized in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. Their rank and holdings dated back centuries, with nary a single scandal to tarnish their name. However, within the clan itself, there is an equally long running thread of superstition and paranoia. Primarily regarding twin boys. If son of the house of Halford sires twin sons of his own, then it is long said a curse would befall those boys, ending in the death of one or both of them. And it just so happened that Bridget's mother did indeed give birth to twin sons.

At first, nothing seemed to stir panic. The babies seemed healthy and fine. But that calm lasted nary a few minutes before something was apparently very, very wrong. One of the babies exhibited a strange influence over every object they touched, freezing their mother's hand in place as she moved to take his tiny hand. The paternal grandfather immediately pulled his son and now proud father aside, face pale, and told him it had to be a sign of the curse. That one of the boys was destined to die...

It was decided something needed to be done. The boy's powers needed to be hidden. The fact that he was a boy at all needed to be hidden. Fearing for the life of his precious sons, their father Robert made a difficult decision to raise one of them with the outward notion that they were a girl. And thus Bridget and Robert II came to be, one a boy being groomed to succeed the family business, the other a 'girl' expected to remain, at public, forever protected by the family and never married. And at first... this was fine.

But Bridget was a curious lad. While he accepted his outward trappings well, nothing really could quell the spirit within Bridget that sought ought new and exciting things. Like his father, a brilliant engineer, Bridget saw the world with wonder and desire and a deep need to explore it and find his own place within. After 14 years of living in near seclusion, Bridget ran away from home, taking two of his father's inventions with him. He needed to find his own path. His own place in life. An identity he could call his own.

Bridget wandered around mainland Europe for about a year before he came across other mutants. Chief among these was a French young man that helped him find secure food and shelter with other mutants. Bridget's gratitude was palpable, thanking this "knightly" man with all his heart. It was that same man that eventually contacted Charles Xavier, arranging a meeting between Charles and Bridget. Seeing Bridget's potential, Charles extended invitation to him to come to the rebuilt Xavier Institute. Bridget finally had a place where he could find his identity, as both a mutant, and something more.
